My name is Les George and I am very pleased to have been selected as your Welsh Conservative Council Candidate for the Caersws, Llanwnog and Carno ward in May’s Local Government Elections.
I was born in Caersws and have spent all my life in the area. I live in Pontdolgoch with my wife Kris, carrying on the family agricultural business with our children who are the sixth generation to be serving the area. My work as an agricultural merchant and retail sales outlet proprietor has given me a wide knowledge of our community and the people and the families residing in the ward.
I have been on the Caersws Community Council for many years and I am also a committee member of the Caersws Tourist Board and the Montgomeryshire All Wales Ploughing Association. I am currently helping to negotiate with various authorities to secure better parking facilities to help alleviate the growing parking problems in the village centre and the railway station in Caersws.
The A470 trunk road from Llandudno to Cardiff passes over the river bridge in Caersws, creating a dangerous and hazardous crossing for pedestrians, local house owners and traffic. We are fighting for a stand-alone footbridge to give safe passage for the football club, the supporters and all other recreational events held at these facilities.
