Ian Harrison - Candidate for Guilsfield

I am delighted to have been selected as your Welsh Conservative candidate for the Guilsfield and Castle Caereinion ward in the County Council elections this May.

As a resident of Guilsfield, I am very involved in local community work including being a School Governor of both Ysgol Ardwyn and Llanfair Caereinion High School, Chair of a group tasked with saving Llanfair Caereinion Leisure Centre, and a member of the MontytraX team which is   working to improve our local footpaths and bridleways between communities for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. I also strongly support Councillor Olive William’s campaign to add a footpath to the Derwen Garden Centre, about which almost 500 of you signed the petition in support.

It is almost 40 years ago that I first came to know Guilsfield, meeting my   in-laws Beth and Trevor Foulkes. I married Anne Foulkes in 1980 in Guilsfield Church and each of my three children were christened there. Self-employed, I have advised a wide range of large companies and organisations such as Brewers, Pharmaceuticals and Housing Associations.

I have also worked a great deal with local government in London which has given me practical experience about how we can improve the way in which Powys County Council is run.
