Glyn Davies MP

Glyn has been the Member of Parliament for Montgomeryshire since the 2010 General Election.

Glyn is a man of the Welsh countryside, born and bred on a family farm near the Montgomeryshire village of Castle Caereinion. He and his wife Bobbie live at Cil Farm, Berriew. They have four children and five grandchildren.

Glyn’s Experience

Glyn has been chairman of Montgomeryshire District Council, the Development Board for Rural Wales, and was the Mid & West Wales Regional Member of the National Assembly for Wales for 8 years. He has also served as a member on the Wales Tourism Board and the board of the Welsh Development Agency. He is formerly the President of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales and a trustee of the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust.

In 2002, Glyn was struck by a serious illness, which is why he explains that “health issues dominate my interests”. He spends a lot of time supporting cancer awareness, and those suffering from dementia and renal failure. He holds a keen interest in mental health issues and is the President of the local Parkinson’s disease and MND societies. Glyn and his office staff have also trained to become Dementia Friends. Furthermore, he has been actively involved with health causes in Westminster, formerly chairing the All-Party Parliamentary Kidney Group, and regularly chairing Westminster health forums.

Glyn, working with a team of Conservative Councillors, works hard to help constituents with important local issues such as transport and business, as well as issues residents may have with Government organisations. He can often be found raising money for charity and works hard for the constituents of Montgomeryshire. During the 2010 General Election, his personal campaign slogan was ‘Because Montgomeryshire Deserves Better’, and he firmly believes that the people of Montgomeryshire need proper representation from a full-time MP.

In the 2015 General Election, Glyn increased his majority by over 4000 votes, and became the first Conservative MP to successfully hold onto the Montgomeryshire seat.

Glyn is Parliamentary Private Secretary for Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns MP.

Glyn learnt to speak Welsh whilst he was an AM and is now fully bilingual, regularly giving interviews to S4C and BBC Radio Cymru.
