Local Government Election 2017 - Our Plan for Powys

Powys needs a Council that can transform itself from being seen as an interfering, bureaucratic and distant organisation to a much valued support service that enables excellent services to be delivered to all of our residents.

As a team of Welsh Conservative Council Candidates across Montgomeryshire, we have spoken to thousands of you on the doorstep and this has shown us that radical change is needed in how the Council is run.

If elected, we will work tirelessly to represent you locally and to improve the performance of Powys County Council, supported by Glyn Davies MP and Russell George AM.

Our Plan for Powys

Reverse the cuts in Potters recycling services and review bin collection services.

Repair pot-holes and resurface roads by investing an extra £12m in our highways over the next three years. Improve street lighting and road safety.

Increase funding for our schools by cutting central costs at County Hall. Parents and teachers know best.

Improve day care services for the Elderly and accelerate the integration of social services and healthcare provision.

Clear our streets and public places of litter and dog-fouling.

Rejuvenate our high streets and town centres by measures such as more free car parking in Council car parks.

Boost a growing Powys by using more local businesses for Council contracts, promoting small businesses, agriculture and tourism.

Campaign for better mobile and broadband coverage.

Bring forward a revised Local Development Plan and improve housing supply for young people and families.

Support youth and sports organisations and promote the Welsh language, culture and the arts in Powys.
